It’s Always Here

Some days are easy. Some days are not. I wake up, sip the hot coffee, watch the steam dance from my cup as the breeze slips through the screen of the open window. I have a ton of stuff to do today. Meditate. Work. Write. Appointment. Where’s the confidence I had yesterday? Why is my mind full of random thoughts? Why can’t I concentrate? Where’s my peace?

After a few moments of mental churning, I center myself and find some silence. Chickadees are flitting on and off of the big rickety wooden bird feeder near the back fence. One last overripe apple falls from the giant unpruned tree. Hummingbirds dodge and swerve, fighting over their favorite blooms.

I slow down. I breathe in. I breathe out. I breathe in. I breathe out. Beauty is here…waiting for me to notice.

I think a key here might be your having ‘Meditate’ as one of your things “to do”. Knowing that up front can certainly help in the centering/balance realm.
